Well, time for official introductions.

Howdy all, I come from upstate NY, and I bring with me about 23 years of fishkeeping experience. For anyone not familliar, I fancy cichlid species originating from Lake Tanganyika in Africa. I currently have 7 tanks, My prize tank being my 55 gallon Tanganyikan Cichlid Tank which houses 13 different species/variants endemic the lake. I have a fairly vast understanding of the African Rift Lake Cichlids, their behaviors, and their habitats. I currently work as a Police/Fire/EMS Dispatcher and have spent 10 years in Security Management as both a manager and an instructor. In my spare time, I can usually be found at my computer, sitting on my porch with my Jackson (guitar), or watching a movie.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Never left the hobby. Just did a whole lot of downsizing. In February of '08, we had to move. At that point I was down to 2 tanks, a 55g reef and a 55g cichlid tank. We knew we would be moving again soon so we re-homed the cichlids and got rid of that tank as well. During the 2nd move, we upgraded the reef to a 75, and it saw great success. After another 3 years, we realized just how much that reef was keeping tied to home. Vacations were difficult as we always needed to find someone reliable to check on the tank twice a day. I decided it was in my best interest to go back to a simple FW setup, so we did just that. The 75g reef was parted out and sold off. The revenue from that funded a remodel of our dining room and office areas, a trip to Salem, MA and the necessary equipment for the 90g freshwater setup. The only part of that beautiful reef tank that remains now is the stand that I had built. Since the footprint of the 90 is the same as the footprint of the 75, it was a perfect fit. So the FW was set up as a Tanganyikan Cichlid tank in February of 2012. in the beginning, it was great, but one of the Frontosas grew much quicker than the others. He and another of the Fronts ended up becoming a mated pair, and overtook the whole tank. Before long he had killed off nearly all of the other fish. I decided to start from scratch once again, and with any luck, this will be a long term change. Going to do a planted community.

so in short, no, I never really left the Hobby. The other hobby however has taken a large foothold in my free time. We are also Halloween enthusiasts (or as some call, "Haunters"). We spend countless hours year round building and preparing to put on a huge Halloween display for our community.

Hence the trip to Salem ;)

Just another town with historical significance to those of us who live around here. But at Halloween...... well it gets really crazy there. And I mean crazy :demented:

Definately a place for those who love Halloween. I've moved a bit further north now so don't have to deal with traffic in the area anymore. LOL.

Yes Yes, the real "Salem Witch Trials" Salem. And Personally, I love the place. We go out there several times a year. And yes, at Halloween time, it is quite the interesting place to be. But We go for other reasons as well. I draw great inspiration from the architecture, Count Orlok's Nightmare Gallery, and the Charter St Cemetery. Additionally, I have direct family ties to the Witch Trials (Unfortunately, my ties are to the Putnam family). And since we are a Wiccan family, it's a great place to go shopping for things that we might otherwise only be able to find on the internet. Yes, Witchcraft is very much alive today, just not in the manner that many people think of it. :)
