Well hello and welcome! I'd prefer not to say my name online...But Sylver, Red or Asc is fine for my short. =)

Cichlids are nice fish indeed! I love watching them.

I've only REALLY been in the hobby for about four years or so now, but I've always had fish, usually betta and guppies, or aquatic frogs or turtles since I was about five or six years old...the reason I say I haven't been in the HOBBY that long is because I didn't know there was that much knowledge out there about them, or even that much to do with pet fish! I took very good care of my babies of course, as well as I could with only basic knowledge and they all did well with me, but I've broadened my horizons over the last few years and really got into it.

My favorite fish is the common Molly. I just can't help myself, I also have a thing for most livebearers(platies, endlers, guppies and swordtails as well), but my favorite of the group is the Molly, though the platy is a close second. It's a common fish a lot of people aren't as fond of(I've had people tell me my tank is full of common fish and I should go for other things....Meh, I like what I like!), but I sure do love them!

Cichlids are pretty hard fish to take care of. I had a friend who's betta got eaten by a cichlid.

Aheh...yeah, you can't keep cichlids with bettas, that was bound to happen eventually. ^^;

Depends on the type how difficult they can be, and also on your own knowledge and what work you're willing to do.

I knew someone who had the bumblebee cichlids. Had them for about five years(six of them in his 75 gal), and then suddenly one went nuts and tried to kill everyone like it had rabies or something...and succeeded in most cases. We're not sure...what exactly happened there. Cichlids can be very aggressive though, but are usually perfectly well behaved, nice fish, if kept in the right tank sizes with a proper group, pair or single...with proper tankmates, and hiding that can stand up to their tantrums and "Redecorating." lol

Ah, nice little mollies, I just love them. I was never big on the potbellies/balloons myself, they're so inbred for the effect they have too many health issues, or are at a higher risk of them anyways. But you have some pretty ones. I used to have a couple red ones and a few orange ones, gave them to my cousin since I just couldn't...bring myself to breed more of the poor things.
