Back into it after 18 years

Hello to all!

I started keeping fish around 1988 and took my tanks down in 1992. I can't really remember why, I think I got to lazy to maitain them. At that time I had a 30 gallon long and a 20 gallon tank on a stand that held them both. Within a week the 30 gal had a crack (nobody did it, I asked) and I gave the 20 away to my oldest son.

I started playing this game called Happy Aquarium on FaceBook. The next thing I know I'm browsing craigs list everyday until I find something that wouldn't break the bank. I picked up a 35 gal hex with the hex stand, Marineland Biowheel 200, natural gravel substrate, heater, Python, all kinds of food, API master test kit, Tetra Aqua Safe, heater, lid, light . All for fifty bucks. All I had to do was add water, and eventually some fish.

I'm all ready looking for something bigger. I would love to get a 55 gal for the foyer (or what ever you call that little room just inside the front door.)

Anyways, it's great to be doing this again, look forward to meeting ya'all in the forums.

Bye form Austin TX,

Bob.

Returning to the hobby is a reoccurring theme on this forum. I too shared a 55 gallon tank with a room mate years ago, I had a goldfish in a 30 gallon tank as a child and also had a tank in my classroom in school. I recently returned to the world of fish too and found out how little I know. lol

Anyway, Welcome back to the forum and world of fish.

Hello, and welcome back to this wonderful hobby, and welcome to Tropical Fish Keeping forum.

Something we all need to remember: The fish you've acquired was quite happy not being owned by you, minding its own business. If you’re going to take it under your wing then you’re responsible for it. Every aspect of its life is under your control, from water quality and temperature to swimming space. [Nathan Hill in PFK]

hello and welcome back to it all. :)

when you set up a new tank, hide an extra
sponge or two behind some decor, that way you have
something seeded for you next filter.
