wood

asuming you made sure that the wood was aquarium safe...some wood can take months to become completly water logged and sink...some pieces i have seen never sink but that is a unusual occurance....remember that all wood will release tanic acid wich can have an effect on lowering your PH..i like to soak my wood in a bucket...changing the water once or twice a week unyil the water is not stained to brown and the odor has subsided...some woods will always stain the water a little but this can be benificiary to some fishes.........ADIOS....

Thank you. I did make sure it was safe for the aquarium, at least according to the store it was. I guess it will just take a while before it will sink.

hello and welcome.
sounds like you have an interesting job. :)
the wood will sink, you can weigh it down with a large stone,or buy some aquarium
silicon and stick a bit of slate to the wood, wait 24hrs for it to dry then slide the slate under the gravel to
hide it,and you'll have a nice sunken bit of wood.

when you set up a new tank, hide an extra
sponge or two behind some decor, that way you have
something seeded for you next filter.
