Welcome, I have also seen people use the head shape to determine sex, and also the angle of the anal fin. But the definite sure way is by the papillia.

Do you have a bunch of plants in your tank? It is quite possible you have a bunch of them hiding in the plants. If so, as long as they get enough food all of a sudden they will be popping out of the plants more and more as they grow and get brave. It wouldn't be unheard of for the other fish in the tank to gobble up the fry though. Wish I had one of your hungry fish in my Guppy tank over night. Too many Fry show up in there.

As Inga said if you have plants in the tank the fry are possibly hiding amongst them. I had one lone fry that had been hiding among the rocks in the tank. Still never did figure out exactly which platy it came from, and I do believe it became a snack for one of the angels, haven't seen it again. You can expect to have more fry in about 4 weeks time. So plenty of time to get the other tank set up and ready. I myself am in the process of getting a 5 gallon tank and 10 gallon tank set up for birthing and growing out the fry in. Just so much to do and not enough time it seems in the day to do it.
