why do fish get into dangerous spots?

my albino angel fish went inside a woodlog that i have which to me its impossible on how the hell it would be able to get in. i had to brake the log for it to escape. but i was a bit to late its body is torn up and but its still breading. what can i do to save it or is it to late.

Why would it be too late? Add, a bit of Tetra "stress coat" (promotes healing) and isolate him from other fish that may add stress w/ another cycled tank (quarantine) or a divider, I don't know how he is swimming, but he should be alright if he didn't die in the first 48 hours.

Also, bump up the heat to prevent disease, probably 80-82F.

Hopefully we get some more comments...
