whoa

i was bored this morning and i was looking at my empty one gallon and decided to aquascape with plastic plants and rocks and gravel (was all i had) and i got a little piece of drift wood but i wasnt better.. ANYWAY

i dont want to have to clean a one gallon so much.. and it sucks because theres no filter or anything.

but anyway to the point. i want a self sustaining tank.. so i was thinking maybe a small fish like a guppy or two (hmmm smart would be one..) and a couple little shrimps?

what do you think?

i would consider a beta.. but the plastic plants are no good. and i dont want to go out and get silk

Well, a one gallon tank is going to require cleaning even more often than a larger tank if you put any fish in there at all. If there is no filter then it will require even more. A couple shrimp might not need the tank to be cleaned as often but I doubt it as the water will quickly become bad for any living thing. A single mystery snail might be an option but you will still need to add fresh water and calcium.

You can give it a try but I would recommend changing the water, at least 50% of it at least once a week if you put and kind of living thing in there.

I personally think that's too small for guppies - not enough space to swim about. The same goes for a betta.

Not sure about shrimp.

A single mystery snail could be an option like F4A suggested but you will still have to clean it and do water changes regularly.
