My best friend got a tank on craigslist that was advertised with a leaky seal. It was a it was a 220g tank with a old wood stand. You would be surprise how easy it is to reseal a aquarium. The only problem is that it is a all day job. It took us 9 hours to remove all the old silicon and replace it with new silicone. Then it had to sit for 2 days. Then we filled the tank out side and let it sit for another 3 days. We also sanded and stained the stand. The tank and stand cost him $150. The investment to fix it cost him $60. that was $210 all together. Not a bad deal if you ask me.
Search youtube for Glass Aquarium Silicone Reseal. There are some how to videos there.
