what does it mean when fishes stay idled?

as in, they don't move around much and just stay at one place for quite some time?

It depends on what species of fish you have. Most fish are always on the go but others are rather lazy and will stay on one area. If you find it unusual for an active fish, something is probably wrong which is why most of us always check the fish on a regular basis.:)

Also, did you recently change anything in hte tank. More timid fish might hide for a while.
