Transfering 30 G to 55 G Cichlids quest

What's up guys.. got a great deal on a 55 Gallon with stand, lights, heater etc.. I have 5 African Cichlids in a 30 gallon established tank. Moving them in the 55 asap.

My question is I have two options either set up the 55 n wait... I'm not so patient lol..

Or... Take the little guys n put em in bags take all the water, Take out the gravel, decor etc and put it all in the new 55 and put the filter on the 55 for the bacteria.. and fill the rest up with my other 50 Gal established.....

You can move your filter, gravel, decor from the 30 gallon and move your fish over. I wouldn't bother using the old tank water unless there is a big difference in Ph between your tank and tap. Just be sure the tank is up to temp and acclimate them as you would if you bought fish from the store. Keep an eye out for ammonia, nitrite spikes and do water changes as needed. I did something similar to this going from a 20 gallon to a 55 gallon and didn't have any problems. Wait a few weeks before adding any new fish. Good luck and enjoy your new tank!
