thinking about converting tank to africans ??

I have 2 125's running and I'm thing about switch my south american setup to Africans I never really liked them when I first started with fish but the colors looks so amazing to me now and they seem alot easier to mix together other then the high ph is there any other maintenance differences with an African setup ??

Water parameter's (Hardness, gh,kh,) and diet's are a couple to be considered.
African's may need substrate to increase hardness? and African's need a more Herbivorous type diet.
Too much animal protein For African's often contributes to digestive problems,bloat.
South American's often prefer water a bit softer than African's would enjoy(thrive in ).

Actually, mixing Africans is quite tricky - some will kill everyone (demasoni) while others are placid (yellow labs).
Mbuna are herbivorous, while a lot of haps are omnivores.
1077 is right with water conditions - hard, alkaline water. Coral sand as substrate makes a good buffer. Loads of rock - they need caves. But then you have the shellies!
First decide which lake has the fish you like. Then go from there. Research, research, research!
