You have a 10g tank with 4 fish in it only, and both types of fish are ones that require schools for best behaviour and health? You need 5-6 of each...

Would start with the suggestion of a total of 3-4 cories and 6 cherry barbs.

For people who love understocking tanks, they should choose non-schooling solo or harem fish like gouramis, guppies, bettas, endlers, platies or mollies.

Still searching for answers.

I say one more of each because they are scgooling fish. A group of 3 each, IMHO is better than 2 of 1 and 4 of another.

I would say for agresion reasons maybe more barbs because in smaller groups they have a reputation of becoming aggressive as they get older and having more might stave it off. As for the cories. I have kept them for years and have never had a problem with them wether in groups or not. I have had them live for 5 years as a sole cory in a 55 gallon and have had them more than happy in groups of 5 in a 10 gallon tank, (smaller ones), all 5 of them being different species.

After reading this post I changed my mind and say more barbs. From my experience cories prefer groups, but that is my experience only. And at the time I didn;t think of the agression with the barbs so I change my vote to more barbs!
