Title says it.

Ten fish that the trade might be better without? | Blog | Practical Fishkeeping

The aquarist is one who must learn the ways of the biologist, the chemist, and the veterinarian. [unknown source]

Something we all need to remember: The fish you've acquired was quite happy not being owned by you, minding its own business. If youíre going to take it under your wing then youíre responsible for it. Every aspect of its life is under your control, from water quality and temperature to swimming space. [Nathan Hill in PFK]

I have to say I was surprised to see guppies on the list. Hmmmm...... I learn something new every day here. Agree with the common pleco. I learned that lesson the hard way :0

I love this guys style of writing.. Keep em coming Byron.

Animal testing is a terrible idea; they get all nervous and give the wrong answers.

Very interesting read and I also was surprised to see the guppy but he does point of a valid reason for each one he has put on the list.

Kindest Regards,

Keeping fish its not a hobby it is a passion!

I have a 55 gallon, 40 gallon, 29 gallon, 20 gallon tank, 5 gallon , and a 2.5 gallon all with real plants.

Not guppies, "Farmed Guppies" and because of the farmers, not the guppies. They get mistreated because they're going to be fed to fish, not because they are bad choices for aquariums.

Maybe the author could do another story titled " Ten Fish Farms the Hobby Would Be Better Without"

What a delight to read! Once I noted the humour in it, I read the article out load to my husband (no appreciation for fish what so ever) who laughed along with me. Funny... I just hauled my Common Pleco back to the LFS this very day in a bucket!! Along with a few other sh-t disturbers. (why do they have so many tanks sitting full of baby Plecos if all they do is come back to the store?)

Thanks Byron!!
