stocking suggestions - cleaning out the 29g

right now the stocking list for my 2 big tanks is as follows..

29g
7 red eye tetras
10 glowlight tetras
1 spotted cory (his buddies died off :( )
6 false julii cories
2 apistogrammas
8 apisto fry (1 - 1.5")
1 small golden mystery snail

and my 110g
3 green severum (soon to be 4... little guy is growing out in my 10g)
1 common pleco
10 tiger barbs
2 blue gourami (i know i know)
1 krib (was a rescue from a buddies tank)
1 rainbow shark

whats happening right now in my 29g is its WAY over stocked.. and ALL of the action (10 apistos and 7 cories) is on the bottom. my thinking was to sell (or give away) the 8 apisto fry, and take the 7 red eye tetras to the fish store because they are out competing almost everything for food.

then to keep the last 2 apistos happy would the cories be better off if I added 5 more spotted, and put all 6 of the spotted cories in my 110?

AND THEN would it be feasible to add something top dwelling to my 29? the mid dwelling glowlights would be the only real swimmers left in the tank and the top 2/3 of the tank is unoccupied!

Dibs on the apistos and the red eyes, I'll pay the shipping.

Now to answer your question. The "twinge" factor here is the rainbow shark. Most, if not all, of what you now have could go into the 110g. That would free up the 29g for whatever. But the rainbow can become tempermental and obnoxious.

But, I would add some cories for the single spotted corie in the 29. Glowlights are midwater swimmers and you have 10. Move the false juliis to the 110g unless you buy a bunch of spotted cories, in which case put them in the 110g. You could then split up the blue gouramis. As far as top swimmers did you have something in mind like maybe an ABF?

sooo let me see if I got this...

fill out the school of spotted cories (6 im thinking) and move one of the 2 schools to the 110. then lose the apisto fry and redeyes, and add an ABF? to be honest ive never considered an ABF before... and theyre an interesting read. I think you might be on to something guys...

they are a interesting fish. though they dont do much except when its meal time and i dont have to worry about mine.. when he is hungry he goes to the bottom of the tank picks out a ghost shrimp and swims back up when he is full... he wont even take live crickets anymore.

Won't an ABF make really short work of glowlites?

A shoal of Hatchetfish (8 or so), Pencilfish (10 or so), or Penguin Tetras might fill out the top nicely.
