sick ottos

i have two ottos in a ten gallon..for about a month they were fine then ne day they both got real lathergic and one was laying on its side..nitrates and nitrites were both high so i did a water changed and they both livined up but now the smaller of the two darts across tue top of the water violently with his head up and when he sucks to the glass he leaves his head out of the water..hel also ocasionaly lay on his side..this has been going on for about 5days
