I have two large Bala Sharks (about 7") and and the have been happy as Larry for a long time, however also in the tank is a Rainbow Shark (about 3-4") and he has started to "graze" on the tail of one of the Bala Sharks (the other is complletely untouched). THe tail fin is very badly damaged, to the point where he now only has the top half! At first I thought it was the Golden Barbs until I spotted the Rainbow in the act. I don't want to get rid of the Rainbow, but he's only been in the tank for about 6 months. And the Bala Sharks are babout 4 years old so they are definatley staying. I'm worried that I'm going to lose the Bala.

Any suggestions? Will the fin grow back?

I think Aquakid is talking about adding some cheap schooling fish, that could distract attention away from the balas. What size tank are they in? Does the raibow shark have any territory of his own set up? Maybe a nice cave or hideout. If there is not enough room for the balas to stay safely away, I would consider finding a new home for the rainbow. Although fins can heal, there is a great risk of an infection setting in. Keep the water very clean, some extra water changes could help.
