Setup plan:

Hi everybody!

Here is my current setup plan for my south american tank (top view).

Comments? Suggestions? Will this setup be okay for the fish I have chosen? Should I add some rock hiding places in the Eleocharis for the rams?

Fish list, for those who don't already know:

4 angels
2 blue rams
2 gold rams
10 corydoras (haven't decided what kind yet)
6 Black or Red Skirt Tetras

Thanks in advance![/img]

Looks good. Slates are great choices. Rams are open brooders and will make use of the slates.

May I know what those red skirt tetras are? I have not heard of them. If you mean Hyphessobrycon sweglesi, they're different from black skirts. Be careful with most white morphs of black skirts, anything colored are dyed.

Yes, those are the "red skirts." What I meant was that I will either get 6 red skirts or six black skirts. I really want the red skirts but I can't find an online site that sells them in the US and all we have in my area now as a lfs is walmart.

They're not actually red skirts. There isn't a red skirt available except 'strawberry or cherry tetras' (made up names by most lfs) which are dyed white morphs of skirt tetras. The actual name is Red Phantom Tetra. These are wonderful fish that, like the black phantom tetras, can also change from brick red to pale pink depending on their moods and mine do.;)

I might skip the bubble wand and go with Brazilian pennywort across the back - circular leaves make a nice contrast. Also, I'd switch the Cabomba with the Elodea - I think the finer texture and lighter color would be better placed in front of the darker green. If you have the light for it, red temple to the rear center or between the swords might be nice.
