Rainbowfish?

I'm trying to get people's opinions on dwarf rainbow fish before i get them. Any comments and advice on them is apreciated thanxs

I have 5 of these fish. I like them because they are smart and aware of what is going on outside the tank. They are very aggressive eaters, and eat quickly and with gusto! I think I have 1 male and 4 females, which should work out okay. You need to keep these fish in groups of at least 5. Getting them young is harder to tell sex, but males have red dorsal and tail and females have more yellow in their dorsal and tail fins. So far mine have been very peaceful together. Occassionally I see one show signs of displaying dominance, which they do by flashing this white stripe on their head. It passes, and I haven't had any fighting or problems. They also need to be kept in a larger tank, due to that they are active swimmers. Mine is 43 gal and they seem content, but I wouldn't put them in a smaller tank. You can read the profile about them. I see their irridesent blue color more when they lights are off than when they are on. I have pictures in my profile or whatever you'd call it - you can see mine there. They seem hardy too. I hear they are sensitive to water parameters, but if you are diligent and keep up on your tank, you'll do fine with them. They are no means difficult to keep. Not sure what else I can say. If you have a specific question about them, I'll try to answer it.

Gwen has provided a lot of info. I'll just point you to the profiles since you may not know about them. Second tab from the left in the blue bar across the top of the page, or in posts if the fish name is identical to how it appears in the profile (scientific or common) it will be shaded, thus: Dwarf Neon Rainbowfish. You can then click on the shaded name to see that profile; there is information on tank sizes, water needs, compatibility, numbers in the group, etc in the profile.
