Question about measuring fish

When reading the expected adult size of a fish in a fish profile, is the measurement given the length of the fish body, or the overall length of the fish, including the fish body and the tail?

Most people definately count the tail and all. In some fish the tail is longer than the body so yeah they usually would measure the whole length of the fish, including tail.
