So I've got a 55 gallon tank with a peacock eel and a pleco both about 5 inches. I gave all my other fish to my mom who also has a 55 gallon. I'm looking to get something with a lot of color. Not really picky on what it is but I'd like it to look nice
Something larger but not too large for my tank(obviously) would be nice. My pH runs about 7.6 and GH is 40ppm

hmmm.. the peacock eel really limits your options. You will have to get fish around 5"-7". Thats assuming it grows to normal captivity size of about 6". In the wild it can get to 1' long, in which case those 5" fish could become lunch. Not sure how a cichlid would do in there.

Plecos generally aren't a problem to other fish, it just depends on how other fish handle the pleco. Do you know what kind of pleco it is?

You have quite a few choices without the eel. It depends on what you want. What kind of fish did you have before and why did you give them to your mom? What size of tank does she have btw?

His/Her tank is 55 gallons. If you want colorful and don't have plants you could do cichlids they come in lots of colors.
