Ha Ha, I can understand his stress. I don't always run around with my fins fluffed but my tail has a natural fluff I can't hide.

I say it's a Hybrid. It is highly possible that your pleco is the baby to a Common and some other pleco. The markings on the belly and fins indicate pleco but the body indicates another type of pleco?

You can call it common.

Ok so we will call him common pleco. My largest tank is 55 gallons and from what I read on the common pleco he will out grow my tank. Should I rehome him now? Or can I let him grow some and then rehome him?

My advice....if he fits comfortably . . . .enjoy the fish!

Don't get rid of it in a hurry.
