pentazona died :$

today I was cleaning my tank, my biggest barb was floating upside down. I had a look in the tank and she was't floating at that time. then I took the top off and got myself a desk lamp for above the aquarium so I can see what I'm doing when cleaning the tank. then I took the top off.
so it must have happened in these few seconds...
I first tought she must have died becouse she was probably old. but then I saw their was a chunk out of her back wich looked like it must have been a bite(when I took it out of the water their was blood coming out of the wound).
it could'nt have been a stone or anything in the aquarium becouse they lay in the sand.
the only fish I have are some cory's and 8 other barbs, so I don't know what could have happened.
does anyone have an idea???
I don't think it was an health problem becouse she was the most beautiful barb of the whole clan... you can see if a pentazona is healthy if it's nicely colored and striped.

I had a little funeral in the bathroom and flushed the poor thing.
rest in peace, you where a good fish.

I'm so sorry about your fish. It's always a sad thing to see and deal with.

It must have been one of the other barbs that got to her. :( :(

sorry to read this, :( it's always sad to loose one of your fish.
i have to ask.....i hope you don't mind.
what exactly do you have in the way of decor in the tank ?
the only reason i ask is because i lost a couple of tiger barbs,when they insisted in wedging
themselves into a hole in some bog wood i had,left awful chunks in them and they died.
anything with a sharpish edge can cause damage to them or anyother fish.
if nothing in the tank like that then yes probably the others attacking.

willow, the only decor is plants wich are far from sharp and a few stones, wich also are round and not sharp, the stones could not have fallen on the fish becouse the stones are not stacked or anything like that.

the only reason for her death is that the other barbs have attacked her.

this time they have eaten one of my ancistrus down to the bone...

I'm gonna sell the pentazona's.
