Pacu are mainly herbivorous fish so it's ok that they prefer veggies to high-protein foods.

Just a disclaimer: these fish can attain lengths of up to two feet and have a well-deserved reputation as being "tank-busters." They should only be housed in very large tanks (hundreds of gallons ideally).

i too have red belly pacu and all they will eat are algea tabs, and fresh veggies. they are in with my oscars and i feed a mix of the red and green hikari cichid pellets and they will pick out the green ones which are the "veggi" pellets...its pretty funny to watch them pick em out actually....

I have raised several pacus and you can go broke feeding them just fish food! You can supplement their diets with some fresh fruits and vegetables, They are very fond of spinach, celery and grapes, but I've found they will eat most any vegetable. Dry cat food is good for bigger pacus.
