New Dwarf Rasbora Boraras species described

I thought some with small tanks would be interested in this. The dwarf species of rasbora in the Boraras genus are ideal fish in 10g tanks. Two are currently in the profiles, Boraras maculatus and Boraras brigittae, and there were five species in the genus until now. I revised the existing profiles accordingly when I read the scientific paper describing this new species a week or so ago, but here is a short article with a photo. This species has been in the hobby for a while, though rare, and it was originally thought to be a variant of another species, but Drs. Conway and Kottelat have determined it is a distinct species, so here it is.

The aquarist is one who must learn the ways of the biologist, the chemist, and the veterinarian. [unknown source]

Something we all need to remember: The fish you've acquired was quite happy not being owned by you, minding its own business. If you’re going to take it under your wing then you’re responsible for it. Every aspect of its life is under your control, from water quality and temperature to swimming space. [Nathan Hill in PFK]
