My Dwarf Gourami wont go near my 10 Guppies. HELP

Hey I just traded 2 gouramis that were bullying my dwarf gourami for 10 Guppies(I would like to start breeding) . He is hiding in his little ship and wont come out. Should I just give this time? Or what should I do? Thanks

Jon

It is a 10 Gallon tank. All the guppies aren't very big at the moment. But they all stay in one small group. He came out of the ship but he wont go near them at all.

Hmmm, that seems like a lot of guppies for a 10 gallon. I would recommend having only 5 (1M 4F). Is this tank cycled? What are your water parameters? Those are probably the problem.

I agree, that's too many guppies for a 10, especially because they will make more. The 10 is a bit small for a DG, as well. Sounds like its stressed. Stress can make a fish seem shy, though it can also flip one day and the fish can get aggressive.

What were you hoping the gourami would do with the guppies??

125 - BGK, chanchito cichlid, pictus cats, silver dollars, palmas bichir
125 - cichlids (severums, bolivian rams, chocolate), rainbows ( turquoise, red), loaches (angelicus, zebra, kuhli and horseface), plecos (BN, RL and clown), denison barbs, tiretrack eel, pearl gouramis, betta
90 - Congo tetras, african knife, upside down cats, spotted ctenopoma, kribensis, delhezzi bichir
2.5 - betta

Haha no I wasn't hoping the dwarf gourami would do anything. I just want my guppies to breed I meant. But he is getting used to the guppies now.
