more fish to add in tank!

Hi i was recently talking to Byron about fish but then kind of went berserk and bought like 4 gouramis. Not sure if they'll survive but it seemed like a good idea at the time. So currently I have 2 zebra danios, 5 neon tetras, a bushnose catfish, and one gourami of each of the following: platinum, honey sunset, dwarf, and powder blue dwarf. (the platinum probably wasn't a good idea as it keeps chasing the smaller gouramis. My tank size is 30 gallons, my water is "pretty much neutral in all aspects" said the pet store guy. can i put anymore fish in my tank or is it fully stocked?

After your gouramis kill each other to the last man standing, you will have room. Gouramis are just like betta fish, being closely related. They dont like other fish similar to them.

I would return all but one of the gouramis and add a few more neons. Normally I would suggest adding a few more zebra danios as well but Gourami dont necessarily like the active fish above them. However I have about a dozen danios in my tank with a gold gourami and haven't noticed anything, so I'll leave that up to you. Although I would suggest you keep the platinum if you want to add more danios.

I would add a school of 6-8 Harlequin Rasbora, I have a school of them with my Black Neon Tetra and they get along great and look super. The Harlequin are by far my favorite community schoaling fish

The gourami are going to be problematic no matter what you do, it is their inherent nature. Males esp are territorial, and the one that is already being aggressive is likely a male. He will consider the entire tank "his" and that spells trouble for other gourami.

The Honey Gourami (original or the colour variants like Sunset) is the best of the "common" gourami, and a small group can be kept in your tank. Males will still be "males" from time to time, esp if spawning, but that is normal within a species and this one is better than most. More info in the profile.

The dwarf gourami are not the best fish to have, for reasons as explained in our profile (click shaded names for profiles).

Byron.
