alright I finally got a filter for my 55(well will next wed) so now im moving onto finding light. What do yall suggest? I need it all, not just the bulb the housing too
Is this for a planted or non-planted tank, and what type of fish?
I'll go ahead and answer the above anyway. A single tube over a standard 55g (4 feet length) is adequate for non-planted or planted. The choice of regular [T8] or the newer T5 type is important because the tubes are not interchangeable, and at present the T8 tubes are more widely available in less expensive but perfectly adequate tubes for plants or not. T5 tubes are more expensive, and the variety is not as great, yet.
Fish don't need light basically, but plants do; so minimal lighting that illuminates the aquarium and the fish is all you need, plus sufficient intensity for the plants if it is planted.
Byron.
