I've decided on fish, now how many can I get?
Hi all, my tank is in the process of cycling, nitrites are rising and I'm getting excited about stocking it! It is planted, with two pieces of driftwood (thanks to Byron's suggestion!) 29 gallon (standard size, not sure of actual dimensions) and soft, slightly basic water (7.4).
I've decided to go with flame tetras and sterbai corys and just stick with the two schools. What I'd like to know is how many of each can I comfortably have in this size tank for optimum fish happiness? I've chosen the tetras based on their looks and water preference, and the corys because my house stays consistently hot from mid-April to mid-September here in Maryland (I live in an old, poorly insulated solid brick "oven"
) so my tank temp is averaging 80-81 and would do so for months. I understand that the sterbai are better at tolerating the higher temps. Aside from that I find them adorable!
I'd like to get the maximum number without overstocking so any advice will help. Thanks!
