I did play sand on one tank, it took hours to rinse. I liked the look of it but I started to get a cyano problem with it. Now I know it to be a organics problem that I can start to take care of.
The gravel I rinsed in a bucket until it was clear, took a few minutes.
The Malaysian Driftwood I soaked in a bucket for a few days. Rising with hot water to leach a few tannins out of. I could not find any locally so I bought some from Drs Foster and smith. I thought I could trust them as a source.
