Birchirs, if that's what you are talking about are an ancient fish, they grow to around a foot, and need long tanks. I have a feeling there maybe smaller species but it all depends on the ones you are talking about. They are awesome fish but tend to eat smaller things that fit in their mouth. I've never had one, but have had several eels and they are quite similar, though rope fish are closer related I think. Bichirs would quickly outgrow a 20 gallon I would think, my eel outgrew my 25 within a year and a half.

You can keep them together however, Bumble Bee (Pseudotropheus crabro) are cranky little beep beeps.

They are extremely aggressive, Birchirs will tolerate them but will really enjoy them as a snack once the birchir gets big.

No cichlid except the small shellies should be kept in a 20G tank, they need more room than that otherwise they will get overly aggressive to everything and not have a happy life.

As mentioned already both are too big to be in a 20g, and the bichir for sure should not be in a 55g even. Even when small keeping them in a small tank can cause permenent damage.

As to keeping them together the profile recommends senegal bichir be kept in neutral water and I know bumblebees like hard water with a PH of 8 or so.
