Hey Byron, I agree with you the more research I do the more the evidence points to the cycling .

I read the help article about cycling posted in this site it was very helpful I think sticky posted it but I'm not sure.I understand alot better now.

I have had tanks for so many years with no problems I considerd myself knowledgable about them and now I'm finding out that I was very much mistaken . There is so much that I didnt know, and feel awfull for the mistakes I've made , mostly concerning the cycleing of my tanks.
I let them sit for a couple weeks b4 I add fish I thought it was long enough ...

I can't thank you enough for your help and know that it will be put to use. I will have a water test before adding anymore fish to the tank. ( A liquid one not the paper strip kind ) and results will be posted thank you Byron so very very much.

You're welcome. The API Master Combo test kit is a good one. It contains ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and pH which are all the tests you need at this stage.

I wouldn't recommend putting those fish with livebearers (guppies), because guppies like higher ph's towards ~7.5 while those like slightly lower ph's.

Also, you don't seem to have cycled your tank, so the best advice i can give is add fish slowly 1-2 every 2 weeks. also adding prime daily will also help (prime will do way better than the stress coat your putting in now)

other than that, check for signs of bullying or agression and good luck!

I will get a test kit myself tommarow . As for the water the tank has been running for 3 weeks , and when I change water I always change 25 to 30 % of the tank at a time and replace with bottle water with start zyhme and stress coat added . But I really dont change the water often unless I have been medicating it for some reason . I 've always had good luck with all my tanks , its really bothering me that Im killing my guppies I have stopped buying them until I can resolve the problem. Do you think it may be the hets? Im sory I dont know the scientific name they look like tiger barbs but no strips just a blck triangle on back bottom .? Again thank you for your help and advice .
If its running for 3 weeks only that means its probably not fully cycled. Therefore, you need to cycle your tank. Also get your own liquid test kit and test it yourself... more accurate, and you know the numbers which helps us a lot more.
