| | HELP! New betta die with no reason
Hello all,
I'm new to the hobby but read up as much as I could. I recently bought a betta fish and everything seem fine until two day after I found him dead after I got home from work. I found him behind one of the plants like he was sleeping but after a few minutes of him not moving I investigated and found that he was dead. He was eating fine the night before and there is no bite mark nor any sign of disease on him. I thought I bought a bad betta so I went back to the LFS and bought one of the most active betta they have for sale. Three days later and he's dead the same way (no sign of disease nor bite mark). The prior night he shows no sign of stress/disease. He eat like a pig and swim around actively. This morning he still greet me and swim around while I was getting ready for work. Other fish in the tank are fine and eat like crazy.
I have a 5 gallon tank with 4 white clouds and 1 oto. Ammonia and Nitrite both read 0 when I found the betta dead. Temperature is around 80F. Tank has small number of live plants and light is on 10hrs a day on timer. Appropriate amount of Freshwater Plant supplement from Kent is added to the tank. I do weekly 20% water change. Conditioner is added to the water before it gets in the tank. I feed the fish TetraMin tropical granules, freeze dried bloodworms and frozen food(I haven't feed betta frozen food yet) from LFS.
Obviously something is wrong in my tank... but I'm puzzled as none of the other fish are affected and betta goes from active/eating to dead within a few hours. Please help! T.T
