Help with the ID of this fish , please

Just bought a fish - it was sold as a Panoon Shark and said it would grow to 5 or 6 inches .!!?

It doesn't seem to exist on the internet .

It looks like a young 3" arowana to me - it cost 8 or 12 Euro .

Stays in the top third of the tank and is very fast .

Sorry no pictures as yet.

As I said it looks similar to an arowana - but silver with a blackish horizontal line halfway down

It kinda sound like the columbian shark. Almost silver with the blackish line half way down. Look them up if so it gets alot bigger then 5-6 inch more like 12-16 inchs.

No not columbian shark.

Ok , it's the general shape of an arowana - the set of fins on the underneath are in the middle of it's body - rather than being at the front - with a blackish line down it's middle and spends all the time in the top third..
Sorry can't provide any pics yet.

Arowanas are surface dwellers, but they aren't that cheap. Pictures would be helpful.
