Exclamation Grrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm just writing this thread because i am extremely irritated right now. i keep reading threads from this same person and they are all mostly regarding breeding fish! In another post he had , he also mentioned he is only 14! when i was 14 my parents would not have allowed such things even if i wanted to breed cockaroahces! Breeding anything (cat, dog, bird, reptile, FISH) come with a VERY big responsability and it is VERY costly. I do not believe just anyone should willingly breed anything. Only responsible, knowledgealbe people should breed animals. i mean i know accidents happen, it happened to me! but thats the risk you tank when keeping animals of same breed but opposite gender in the same area....usually babies are produced. But even though i am NOT a breederi am still set up to deal with babies if i need to. You also need to think about what you are going to do with them afterwards. you want them to go to GOOD homes with people who will care for them and make sure they are happy and healthy!

DONT BREED IF YOU CANT AFFORD OR DONT KNOW WHAT THEY NEED!!!

I don't think Mollie meant it the way you are takeing it. She is just trying to point out the common sense fact that you should be takeing care of your current fish properly before you even think about breeding more. Just because they are fish does not mean that there is less responsiability than say dogs, or cats or any other living thing. It is great that you are asking questions and trying to learn but we are talking about living breathing creatures here not just something you can make then dispose of when you are tired of them or don't want to do there weekly water changes anymore. I do not mean to offend you or anyone else but it just seems like you are trying to breed alot of different fish at one time but yet do not have the proper set ups to take care of all the fry you will have if the breedings are succesful. If I am wrong and you do have everything to properly take care of your current fish as well as the large groups of fry you may have then I am sorry in advance for misunderstanding your plans.

Mollie fan is correct in her thinking and it wouldnt matter what age you are........Breeding fish is a very daunting task for the people (myself included) that have the resources for all the extra tanks and special food it will and does require......People who thinks its cute to have "baby" fish, usually dont provide the correct things to raise the fish to adulthood and end up losing the fry fish, or worse have their tank degrade and take out all their fish from disease or the overload of maintainance.....Currently i am raising 2 types of guppies, each species requiring 3 tanks each..I do water changes every other day to provide the clean water and habitat that they need......Most people have a tough time maintaining one tank......Alot of the members who ask breeding questions only have a solo tank, unless your ready to provide more tanks and ALOT more time and money, dont do it.......In the end, its the fish that suffer...

yea. i have 2 tanks and a pair of my fish breeded and i lost all of them because of my lack of knowledge. now i have around 40-50 convict cichlids in one tank living hapily together because i reasherched. i didnt breed them perposfully just that when a male and female will breed and u have to be prepared. if ur trying to breed them and dont have more tanks for the babies then simply dont do it.

The rack of tanks at the far end of the room are all guppy breeders, mixed with shrimp and crays. It's hard to tell, but there are 3 10's on top, 2 10's and a 20 long on the middle, and 20 long on the bottom, with another 20 long here and waiting to be set up.

Biokid....i did not mean to offend you, i am VERY sorry that i did. I think it is great that you are as eager to learn about fish keeping and breeding as you are. when i was 14 i was also eager and i have been in the vet field for almost ten years now, since i was 14. in a couple of your posts in regards to the betta situation you made comments that sounded to me like you were going to breed the bettas no matter what with the 2 1 gallon fish bowls you had and it just upset me to think about the condition they would be in if that were the case. as mentioned above i am in the vet field and see all too often that people breed animals just for the hobby of it and it turn out very badly, mostly for the animals....again i am very sorry and i hope now you can understand why i am so passionate about the situation at hand. and i cant say enough...i am SOOOO sorry!!!
