Grouami and communities

I mostly wanted to snag first post in new thread, but also would like to finish my research before adding some to my community.

Got a 55 gallon with blue and orange neons, otos, one SAE, some bamboo shrimp (cherrys will be added soon), and guppies. My tank is also heavily planted.

I keep the tank at 76-78 degrees, the ph (despite my best efforts) is at 7.6 and otherwise a normal cycled tank.

I have enough unused bioload to add about 13 inches of fish

I was going to get some dwarf gourami but would prefer a pair of completely harmless ones that will get to be about 5-6 inches each.

I know that some types (chocolate and paradise) can tend to be more aggressive and would value your opinions!

I would do a pair of Pearl Gouramis. They are a more peaceful than the blue, gold, opaline, etc. And they are my favorite gourami!

I was thinking about pearls too, but because I'd rather participate in the forum than just look it up, how big do they get and whats the best way to tell that I got a male and female?

They get to about 4-5". The male will have pointier dorsal and anal fins and more red in their "chest" area. The female has a more rounded dorsal fin. You should be able to sex them when they're about a couple inches big.
