I just got a Aqueon 55 gallon tank. It has the center brace and when I try to find them it's confusing trying to see if they have them with the proper dimensions for the two panels. Has anyone found one for this tank? Or would I be better served by having glass cut for me? If so, tempered? Thickness? Thanks for any advice any of you may have. I have two 24" light units I plan to use.
"Normal" depends on the manufacturers. Like was mentioned earlier, if it's an aqueon tank then the aqueon tops are the ones to get, vs perfecto or all glass or other manufacturers. Like 1/8 of an inch or less difference, but enough to make it not fit.
I had a situation once where the glass tops didn't fit the aquarium, despite being the same brand. Took me a little bit to figure out that someone had replaced the top trim with a different brand somewhere along the line. Center braces do break, and they get replaced. That's what happens when you buy used
I have bought glass from Lowes (or any local hardware store) for tank tops. I still have a few with the glass tops but after getting cut and dropping a few I have to say I don't like glass tops.
Just received my Aqueon glass top and it fits perfectly. Quality is good.
