Question glass covers

I just got a Aqueon 55 gallon tank. It has the center brace and when I try to find them it's confusing trying to see if they have them with the proper dimensions for the two panels. Has anyone found one for this tank? Or would I be better served by having glass cut for me? If so, tempered? Thickness? Thanks for any advice any of you may have. I have two 24" light units I plan to use.

There are two different sizes I believe, so you have to measure the inside dimensions of your top to know which to get.

You could just purchase a glass cover set for you 55g, aqueon brand?

540L/140G - 'Tidal Jungle' (Crabs) | 254L/67g - 'Backwater Pool' (Fish/Snails) | 96L/25G - ''Twisted Minds" (Fish/Snails)

I've never had any problems with 'Impulse Buying'. They're just animals that I forgot I had planned to get.

"Normal" depends on the manufacturers. Like was mentioned earlier, if it's an aqueon tank then the aqueon tops are the ones to get, vs perfecto or all glass or other manufacturers. Like 1/8 of an inch or less difference, but enough to make it not fit.

Thanks for replies. I ordered an Aqueon glass top from Dr. Smith and Foster. Should get it shortly. Hopefully it fits as it was the only one they have other than the single one for the 55's without the center brace. Mine has the brace so I ordered the two 24" ones that were listed for 55 gallon tanks.

I had a situation once where the glass tops didn't fit the aquarium, despite being the same brand. Took me a little bit to figure out that someone had replaced the top trim with a different brand somewhere along the line. Center braces do break, and they get replaced. That's what happens when you buy used

I have bought glass from Lowes (or any local hardware store) for tank tops. I still have a few with the glass tops but after getting cut and dropping a few I have to say I don't like glass tops.

I stated using these https://www.lowes.com/pd/Tuftex-Poly...-Panel/3043807 I really like the corrugated tops it allows tanks to breath and no risk of breaking.
