Ghost/Glass Shrimp Noob

Hi, I am new to this forum and just had a quick question. I currently have a 55 Gallon as described in my sig. I am really liking these Ghost/Glass Shrimp as I find them cool looking and I have also heard that they are great tank cleaners. I have done a lot of reading on breeding them. (I know they are only $.35 a piece but if I can do a few rounds of breeding then I'd rather do that then add 20 of them. Our old tank is a 10 gallon and it has been sitting in front of a window with the filter off. It has developed quite a bit of algae, but I have read that this is good for the baby shrimp. I was just wondering what my options were...can I pull a pregnant shrimp out of my 55 and put it in the old 10 to lay eggs and then let the larvae feed on all the algae or what? Thanks in advance for any help/advice!

Theoretically yes, if you can find some java or other moss and put all the berried females you can find in the breeder then after a month or two you should have a thriving population to work from just remember that you do have to feed them so put a few fakes in and a small sponge filter to keep your water healthy

I appreciate the response. I was going to dump all of the water out of the old 10 gallon until I saw that it could actually be good for Ghost Shrimp larvae.
