Ok, so I've been out of the fish seen for about 15 years. I would like to say that I always new what I was doing. Kept up on water changes, and never had many fish die. So to start off, my daughter has a little 1 or 2 gallon tank with a hood and light, and an undergravel filter. She wants a betta, but after reading the General Betta Care post on here I don't think that is a good idea. But you see these fish in every single office you walk into and they are just in a fish bowl. So a tank with a hood and filter has got to be better than that, right?
Anyway, if I don't go that route, what would you suggest for a 1-2 gallon tank with a filter and hood with a light, but no heater.
Now for me, I plan on getting back into the game of raising fish, when I was in high school, a very long time ago, I had 3 aquariums in my little 10X10 bedroom. Haven't had any since then. I remember way back then that they sold some type of conditioner that would make the water safe for the fish immediately, or at least that is what they told me at the fish stores. Anyway I would always buy it when setting up a new tank and I never had any problems with fish dying when I used it. Sometimes I would use the zebras to cycle the tank.
Anyway do they still sell that stuff and does it work. Just asking because within the next 4 or 5 months, once we refinish our basement I will be setting up a couple of tanks.
Thanks for any help given
Man I miss having fish
