I have a 30g tank with 8 cardinal tetras and 3 honey sunset gouramis, what would be some good tank mates for these guys? Im wanting something that will be more noticeable and not hide so much. Any ideas?

Hi Jimmy

How about 4-6 green tiger barbs? They're really active and playful without being aggressive. I have 4 in a tank of mostly tetras.

However, I have no idea if they will get along well with gouramis. Someone with more expertise than me should be able to answer that one.

Good luck and welcome.

I wouldn't mix the two species but I have no real experience with this, just what I've read. I've read that tiger barbs are known fin nippers, especially of slow moving fish. Someone else with real experience can give us the scoop.

PS. Welcome to the forum! :)

i agree with Kymmie,i dont think tiger barbs would be a good fit in your 30 gallon with gouramis...as stated, tiger barbs are known as fin nippers and the gouramis would become targets..................Try looking into cherry barbs, or another kind of tetra or danio.......Also a group of cories for the bottom would also work for your tank.....Good Luck!

A red tail shark would work just fine as long as you have some good hide outs for him to stake out as his own personal territory. I've got cardinals, flame honey gouramis and the shark doing well in my 25 gallon.
