I woke up today and I had 5 BIG cracks from the top of my tank to the bottom... I lost all but 1" to 1 1/2" of water in my 30gal tank so I scooped up my green spotted puffer, archer, Jack Dempsey, inridecent shark and pleco(all of them are small) I put them all in my 10 gal aquarium (the only tank cycled in my house) with 3 bloodfin tetras I have a 30 gal filter on the tank lighting and a heater... how long will they all last in this tank? I have a 75gal that is cycling right now and will have about 2 weeks left that I was planning on moving my 30 gals fish into once it was done cycling. suggestion on what I should do would be great

Put the media from the 30 gal tank that cracked into the filter of the 75 gal tank and it should give you an almost instant cycle.

the issue I have with that is I have a sand substrate in my 75 and had gravel in my 30.... but I do have a 60 gal filter on my 30 I think would boost my chance of getting my 75 cycled because it should have the bacteria needed in the filter correct?

Exactly what I meant, the stuff in the filter that was running on the cracked tank. Whatever you had inside the filter on the cracket tank you can put inside the filter for the 75 gal tank, thus giving you almost an instant cycle. The substrate difference does not matter unless you are wanting to put some of the gravel in a nylon and place it in the 75 gal tank as well. Good Luck

a tank cracking, thats scary hope that doesnt happen to my tank, id be devistated, and i dont have any "back-up" tanks or extra tank, except for a 1 gallon tank , and that wouldnt fit all my fish from my 20 gallon tank.

I always keep a extra filter pad or sponge or something in my filter for just in case emergencies. If something happened to your tank and you maybe had to buy something else or use some kind of plastic container, you would be able to easily cycle the water temporarily.

my tank was on my stand.. I am not sure why it cracked :s thought it was quite strange myself
