My Angelfish are in an isolated 30 gallon tank and are laying eggs every 10 days!!!
They are cleaning the area first and they flutter the eggs with their fins for oxygen and they are VERY protective (even when we open lid to give them food)..BUT... they eat the eggs after 3-4 days!!!
Any suggestions on what to do to prevent the egg eating ?? OR does anyone know why they lay them so often?
I keep Discus and mine spawn every seven days. I don't think every ten days is unusual for Angels. New parents sometimes take quite a few tries before they get it right. This pair of yours may even eat their first few batch of wrigglers, once they get to that stage. Eventually they should be successful.
@ Aunt Kymmie - I guess 10 days isn't so bad then, I was just wondering why? but I guess we just don't know.
When they laid the first batch, about 20 wrigglers we in the tank and the Angels would collect them as they would swim away and spit them back towards the nest, then they just ate them all......After that, they have not let the eggs alone long enough for the fry to hatch..
I will keep my fingers crossed and let them be for now!
