Duration of birth for platy?

I woke up this morning to find a few fry in my Platy birthing tank...great, was expecting it...however, I was under the impression that they can have anything up to 30 - 60 fry per batch...is this correct? I have only seen about 10...my question is as follows...

How do I know when she has finished dropping fry? When is it safe to return her to the main tank?

Thanks

She finished dropping the fry, I think and I have moved her back into the main tank, but my question remains...in future, how do you know when thet have FINISHED dropping the current batch of fry...?
Hmmm...is it a batch of fry or a school of fry?
