Hi all,
I've been trying my first attempt at keeping discus and angels as much of the literature and forum posts has suggested it is more than possible to be successful. I realize that many different aquarists have varying experiences of success and failure. Unfortunately, my experience has been of the latter!
I have tried now for several months, and after returning one discus for excessive bullying of other discus and the angels, It was only to find the newcomer to take its place! My angels grew quicker than the discus and then they to became the bullies, chasing the discus into hiding. I then, reluctantly took the angels back to exchange them for another discus. The new discus was slightly larger than the original tank mates and soon became the matriarch and was chasing the other discus like crazy. One discus has died as a result! I have had enough of watching total harassment in what I hoped was going to be a relaxing peaceful environment to watch. I have decided I will be taking all the discus back and continue with a general community tank.

I am posting this experience so others may perhaps gain some knowledge from my experience in the event they are considering starting keeping discus with angels for the first time, as was the case with me. and are seeking general experiences with such a venture.

I am now going to ask whether it is feasible to keep one discus within a general community tank. I ask this because i really would like to keep the last acquisition ( the bullying discus) as it is such a beautiful specimen and I notice it ignores my plec, corydorus, otocinclus and cardinals.
Opinions please

If your discus does not bother other fish, I see no reason why you shouldn't add it to your community.;)
