cichlids and plants
hey guys im new to the forum- i need help with my african cichlid tank im setting up...what type of live plants can i add with the cichlids? Ive heard so many negative comments , since they are very territorial they will destroy all plants in the tank. Some say i can add plants just that they have to be hardy plants....which ones????
I have maintained rift lake cichlids with plants, depends upon the species perhaps. Given the hard basic water, Vallisneria is a perfect plant for these tanks. Java Fern and Anubias attached to some of the rocks would probably be fine.

Something we all need to remember: The fish you've acquired was quite happy not being owned by you, minding its own business. If you’re going to take it under your wing then you’re responsible for it. Every aspect of its life is under your control, from water quality and temperature to swimming space. [Nathan Hill in PFK]
