the tank is to small for african cichlids of any kind....with the exception of the Lake Tang shell dwellers.....African cichlids are generally not good tankmates for other types of fish, except maybe some type of bottom dweller that can handle a higher Ph, which the africans require.......They will eat any tetra you put in with them.....A pair of Kribs or a pair of Badis would probably work if the tank is a 20 gallon long and not the 20 tall..........The biggest thing with african cichlids is the footprint of the tank, a tall tank is doing them no good......They need space and LOTS of hiding spots......They are not a good fish for a beginner to start with.........
oh... its the 20 gallon tall, but i dont understand the Scarlet Gem Badis only grow to 1", or as they are now known as dario dario . Ive researched and it says you could have them in tanks as small as 7 gallon tanks.
I'm her brother and i really like those dario darios. how many could i keep in that tank and what other fish could i keep along with them?
