Catfish aggresion

Well I know many catfish are aggresive, I wasn't expecting one of my little upside down catfish to attack my Gold gourami, it is 5x it's length after all. Since the catfish are new is it just settling in or is this going to be a continued problem?

It has been nearly 30 years since I last had this species, and I can't remember exactly but I don't recall any aggression issues. Most sources (all I've read anyway) say peaceful. They do recommend a group though, 4-5, so this might help. On its own, perhaps it is missing something, and that can make peaceful fish more aggressive, as it is one way of reacting to frustration; the other response some fish (discus come to mind) do is to stop eating and waste away.

We did get 3 of them it's all they had (They were so cute and our petstore is doing renos so they poured all 40 or more tans into about 8 it was sad things are getting eaten alive they even stuck african claw frogs with fish and snails and crabs and lobstars all together in one tank) it's only the one attacking could this be a sign of hunger we also bought some boeseman rainbow fish (supposed to be 8 but I think 1 is a different species) and they seemed starving

It may settle and be fine.
