Well she probably won't have her tank for at least a month. So I don't think time will be an issue. I know typically that material and such shouldn't be moved from tank to tank, however I know (at the moment) that my fish are healthy. Also the gravel I plan on transferring is not from my actual tank. It has no contact with any of my other fish tanks. If I use filter media to transfer BB that would be the only thing moving from my tank to hers.
She's a little tight on money so I think buying bottled bacteria isn't a very viable option.
The plant option is always good

Buying bottled bacteria isn't very expensive. A bottle of seachems stability is around $20.00 for a nice size bottle. I have used the gravel and filter method before and I have been successful each time. I understand views are different and that's fine. Transferring anything from one tank to another can always cause risk. Having a filter or gravel colonize with bacteria doesn't take more than a week IMO. Either way there are plenty of options for you to use. It's your choice which one your going to take.

Yeah I think I'm just going to continue using the gravel simply because its not very intensive (and I have extra gravel I can spare) also, if we decide not to use it in her tank I can always place it in one of my multiple tanks. I just wanted to make sure what I was doing would actually work and I wasn't just unnecessarily 'feeding' some gravel :P
Thanks for all your guys help.
