Hi all, i have a cichlid tank (electric yellows, blue and orange assorted cichlids and a livingston cichlid) I want either a lobster or a crab or something similar. Has anyone tried that before in a cicholid tank? I have white sand as a substrate and rocks and some live plants. (35g)

Crayfish/crabs are notorious fish eaters. They will even get at aggressive fish as they ambush them at night. It *may* work if the cray is small and the fish are all quite large, but IMHO I wouldn't risk it. If the fish are large enough to fight the cray, they may very well kill it, as they are African cichlids! The invert will be particularly vulnerable when it molts, it likely wouldn't survive that.
