Hello,

Just a quick question, I have been dosing my tank daily with fertz (each day a different one). I was wondering if it would be more beneficial to just dose the tank all at once after my water change. Any suggestions?

Hmmmm... I read somewhere and for the life of me I can't remember where I saw it... was not to add fertilizers the same day as a water change with De-chlorinator. To add the fert the next day. That the de-chlor cancels the fertilizer so you would be wasting product and money and effectiveness if doing them the same day. I'm sure there are people out there that do daily water changes so I'm hoping that someone can clarify this for us.
(and you mentioned... doing all the ferts after your water change) Would be good to know for any members reading this thread.
(I've just bought my very first 3 plants so total newbie and was only fert once a week...)

It depends somewhat upon the method you follow. Daily fertilizing is often necessary if you are running high-tech with more light and CO2 diffusion. Those with experience in this method can detail this better than I can.

If you have a natural (low-tech) system, once or twice a week is normal. But I suppose it would do no harm to divide the weekly dose into days--except that with some preparations this would amount to a drop or two.

A day following a water change is better if you use a dechlorinator that also detoxifies metals, as most (but not all) do. Several micro-nutrients are heavy metals that would be detoxified and thus likely rendered ineffective.
