Balloon Molly just hovers in the bottom

Well I have a ten gallon tank, lightly planted which a friend gave to me so I set it up a week ago and got the Molly yesterday..it was swimming a lot, but towards the night and today, It stays on a corner just hovering or shaking. Is there something wrong with it or could it be the tank

I would suggest it is reacting to ammonia. Molly are highly susceptible to ammonia and nitrite and nitrate, and should really never be used in new tanks until they are cycled and established.

Do you know about new tank cycling? Read this article:
http://www.tropicalfishkeeping.com/f...m-cycle-38617/
Cyclng takes several weeks.

Do you have a test kit for ammonia and nitrite? If either is above zero, and I suspect ammonia likely is, a 50% partial water change should be carried out daily to keep it low. Using a conditioner that also detoxifies ammonia and nitrite is recommended during cycling. Prime and Ultimate both do this.

Given the symptoms though, the molly is likely too far gone. Do what you can, but be prepared.

Umm, Byron they aren't that susceptible to ammonia I used mine to enhance the cycling and they are fine. That's the symptoms they show before they give birth. I have had fry before and she seemed to do that alot.

That may be, but a molly in a 10g tank that has only been running for a week and is behaving as described is more than likely reacting to toxic ammonia poisoning.

And my understanding from a pro breeder of molly in Florida is that they are highly susceptible to ammonia.

Well I did the water changes for three day and it stopped behaving like it was...I think it was the ammonia because it seems very happy now and it's color seems to be coming back. Also it had fungus so I treated that as well.
